Tax Advisor Barry G. Fowler, EA Warns Taxpayers Not to Fall Hook, Line and Sinker for Phishing Emails
Barry G. Fowler, EA, leading expert in tax resolution issues and CEO of Taxation Solutions, reports that tax identity thieves have found ways to circumvent the safeguards put in place at IRS and those by tax return companies like TurboTax and Intuit.
Houston, TX – February 15, 2016 – Barry G. Fowler, CEO of Taxation Solutions, posted a new blog on the company website entitled “It’s Tax Season and the Identity Thieves Have Gone Phishing.” It’s amazing how many unsuspecting taxpayers get caught off-guard by emails designed specifically to snag the attention then tease them into their nets by leading them from site to site.
As Barry Fowler acknowledges about these tax identity phishers, “They don’t put bumper stickers on their cars, nor do they make their presence obvious in other ways. He continues adding, “However, you have to be on alert because the thieves that make millions stealing other people’s identities and tax refunds have started their phishing email campaigns. The emails look like they’re coming from the big companies like TurboTax and Intuit.”
“Don’t become a victim this tax season,” advises Fowler. He writes, “Avoid getting caught hook, line and sinker by phishing emails. If you receive any emails that appear to be from TurboTax or Intuit, don’t open them. If you have accounts with either of these companies, call them directly.”
